LISA Calculator

Calculate your Lifetime ISA growth with 25% government bonus. Perfect for first-time home buyers and retirement savers under 40.

What is a Lifetime ISA?

A Lifetime ISA (LISA) is a tax-free savings account for people aged 18-39. The government adds a 25% bonus to your contributions, up to £1,000 per year (on maximum contributions of £4,000).

You can use your LISA to buy your first home (up to £450,000) or save for retirement (age 60+). All growth and withdrawals are completely tax-free when used for these purposes.

⚠️ Important: If you withdraw for any other reason, you'll pay a 25% penalty, which means you'll get back less than you put in.

When Can You Use Your LISA?
First Home

Use your LISA to buy your first home worth up to £450,000. You must have held the LISA for at least 12 months and be a first-time buyer. Completely tax-free and no penalty.

Age 60+

Access your LISA from age 60 for retirement. All withdrawals are completely tax-free with no penalties. You can take it all at once or in stages.

Early Withdrawal Penalty

If you withdraw for any other reason (not first home or age 60+), you'll pay a 25% penalty on the amount withdrawn. This means you'll get back less than you originally contributed.

Example: If you have £10,000 in your LISA and withdraw early, you'll pay a £2,500 penalty and receive only £7,500 - that's £500 less than if you'd never received the government bonus!
